On my nightstand...

Living Simply by Joanne Heim

I think you need to be ready to read a book like this. With baby #3 on the way there is no time like the present to simplify my life a bit.

I borrowed this from the MOMS Group lending library- but I am highlighting like crazy and don't think I will be giving it back! (Don't worry Michelle- I'll replace it asap).

I'm only four chapters in, but so far a concept that has been huge for me is "half done is still undone". Multitasking is not all it is cracked up to be. My childhood nickname (thanks, mom) was "Sara, the side-tracked queen". This is still a big issue for me.

There are also some great thoughts on how we are "conditioned to be consumers". My ears perked up to this because a few months back I remember thinking my life revolved around the fact that I was a consumer. I was always making shopping lists, buying gifts, researching big purchases, browsing catalogs and websites (darn that pottery barn!). Though I rarely went to the mall- I realized a big part of my time was spent "shopping" (or dreaming of...). This is not how I want to spend my life- not to mention the discontentment it stirred up in me.

There is much more I would like to share about this book- but I can tell this fell into my hands at just the right season. I'll post more revelations as I continue to read.

Joel Dewberry Fabrics

I have a new love-
I especially love the Aviary collection in bloom (shades of pinks with a little brown). I think this is going to work its way into our new nursery for sure. You can check it out his lines here.

Pink and Red Wedding

My dear sweet friend who I've grown up with is getting married in September. I'm so excited for her! Her colors are pink and red- not necessarily a common combination. Last year, Martha featured this combo (calling it Poppy and Pink). I found some great images from the knot featuring red and pink. I'm especially in love with the strawberry trees on the buffet and the hypericum berries with the roses. I think pink roses for the maids with the gorgeous red dresses she has selected would be so pretty. Anyone have sugguestions for tying this color combination into the day? What about a third accent color? {Leah- hope you don't mind me soliciting the free world for ideas!}

Spring is Here!

For my birthday last May, Eric built me this great potting bench. Today I put it to good use and planted several flats of white petunias. (I'm so boring- but I just love white flowers!) Thanks honey- I love my potting bench and I know I will have it for years come.

Citrus Themed Bridal Shower

Here are some pictures I've been collecting for inspiration for the bridal shower I'm throwing for my sister-in-law. I'm going to mix it up with fushia- but I love the use of orange slices in the vases. If you want to see the menu ideas- click here.

Inspiration- The Boy's New Room

I've been collecting photos of rooms that I love. We are getting ready this summer to move the boys in together. Since the bedrooms in our house are pretty small- we are shopping for bunk beds. I love the navy and red "Americana" theme. This will work with Sam's rug and quilt- and even his red shelves and night stand. And his drapes and lamp too. So I need to think about duvets and paint colors. I think I can pull this room together pretty easily. Now the question is- will we ever be able to get those two little monkeys to actually sleep together?
