Bye-Bye Baby Room

Last night I got a little sentimental about Ben's room so I grabbed my camera for a few pictures before we took everything down for the new paint going up later today. We bought bunk beds and painted them navy blue and they turned out great. So in just a few short nights Ben will be in a big boy bed!

IKEA finds...

For my birthday Eric took me shopping to Palo Alto. We hit IKEA with our "economic stimulus" cash to look for some of the big items that we need for our summer bedroom projects (AKA getting ready for baby #3).

This white slip covered chair is going in the boys room. We really wanted a comfy place to read stories- and this will be it! And at $29 for the slip cover- I can bleach it and even replace it if needed. We found this dresser in the "damaged" furniture area marked down an addition $50. Best of all it was already assembled! It is in perfect condition and it seems surprisingly solid (not to mention heavy). Plenty of room for all those girl clothes plus a changing pad and lamp. I picked up a couple of these large, fabric covered boxes in brown. For only 7.99 each, it's a great price for cute storage boxes. I'm planning to use them in the baby's room- maybe for toys or extra blankets. Right now I'm having fun filling them up with some of the darling girl things I've already received.
These glass votives were the ridiculously cheap find of the day- 12 for only 25 cents. They are just big enough for a tea light. I love the simple design and they come in a little tube perfect to store them in. I bought 12 packs (yes, 144). I still only spent $3.00 on these! Don't worry, I'm going to give these away- plus we will use them for the wedding next week.
I can't believe Eric got the chair and dresser to fit (packing is his gift!). Best of all- I feel this shopping was my patriotic duty! Thank you Mr. Bush!

Boys Boating Day

Eric took the boys to the lake for the day this weekend to escape the heat. Normally, I'm not really one to worry too much- but clearly he was out numbered- and on the water with two little boys who can't swim. Even a little. But they did great and came home safe and sound!

Looks like he let Sam drive...

...and Ben dozed off

The boys had so much fun--and Eric really is awesome (not all dads would be so brave!)

Rub-a-dub-dub...

three (little) men in a tub
[this is really the strangest of the nursery rhymes]
Ben (cousin Peter 10 months) and Sam
April and Cliff are out on a hot date to see Michael Bublé in concert...I'm just a little jealous.

Park Day

[Ben and his new buddy Christian at the MOMS play group this morning]
Two play structures, sand toys and swings just didn't cut it for these two little guys. No, this puddle was calling their names. Apparently they are also styling their hair (you have to work those curls!).

Boating

We had a great time on Sunday with the Temple family as we took the boat up to the marina for the season. Sam and Micah are best buddies. It was a little (okay, a lot!) chilly. Next time, hopefully it will be warmer.

Baby's Room

I still love this brown and white bedding that I used with Ben and I'm planning to use it again (but pairing it with pink instead of blue of course).

Today the fabric came that I ordered from etsy- I love it even more in person. My mother-in-law is going to make a quilt for the baby and I'm planning to make curtain panels as well. Oh girl things are so fun!
